A Dose of History: Pioneers of UConn Pharmacy

At the center of UConn Pharmacy, celebrating its 100th year of excellence, innovation, and care, are the people. Acting as builders and changemakers – students and professors alike – the School is grateful to all who have made and continue to make UConn Pharmacy a place rooted in the progress of the past and propelled by the possibilities of the future. Here are three influential figures in the history of UConn Pharmacy, each of whom changed the School in ways still felt today.

Chinenye Anyanwu Named the 2025 School of Pharmacy Faculty Service Award Recipient

The School of Pharmacy Dean Robert L. McCarthy Faculty Service award is presented to a full-time faculty member who has provided outstanding service to their department, school, the University, the profession of pharmacy, and the public. This year, the recipient of the prestigious award is Chinenye Anyanwu!

UConn’s Health Profession Programs Brings Interprofessional Education and Collaboration to Northeast Connecticut Communities

On Saturday April 26th, the Northeast Connecticut Family Health and Wellness Day was held at Killingly High School. Developed and hosted by UConn’s Committee for Interprofessional Excellence in Healthcare (CIPEH), the event presented more than 30 health-related topics to residents in northeast Connecticut communities.

Five years ago, Philip M. Hritcko was named the ninth dean of UConn’s School of Pharmacy. Now, five years later, he has been reappointed as dean of the School and is honored to continue the legacy of UConn Pharmacy.

Raman Bahal Receives the School of Pharmacy 2025 Faculty Research Advising Award

The Faculty Research Advising award is presented annually to a full-time faculty member who has excelled as an advisor for undergraduate or Pharm.D. students performing research in the School. This year, the recipient of the distinguished award is Raman Bahal!

UConn School of Pharmacy Places Second in 2025 AMCP P&T Competition: Following Back-to-Back National Championships

The UConn School of Pharmacy placed second in the 2025 Academy of Managed Care (AMCP) Annual National Student Pharmacist Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Competition – marking the third consecutive year UConn has ranked in the top three nationwide, after winning first place the last two years.

NAPLEX Scores Released: UConn Pharmacy Students Exceed National Average

Each year, students at UConn’s School of Pharmacy take the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination, or NAPLEX, after they graduate. This national exam allows graduates of Pharm.D. programs to earn their title as licensed pharmacists. Scores for the 2024 exam were recently released, revealing that UConn pharmacy students exceeded the national average while continuing their annual pattern of improved scores.
